'Mizo Sniper' Jeje Lalpekhlua is raring to return to action with SC East Bengal in the Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2020-21 after missing out on playing competitive football for the whole of last season. The Indian striker, a two-time Hero ISL champion with his former Chennaiyin FC club, claims he has nothing to prove to anyone but himself as he embarks on a new challenge with the giants of Kolkata.

There's nothing I need to prove to everyone except myself. It's a new club, a new opportunity, and I want to make it all happen. Jeje was quoted as saying by livemint.com. What I most hope is to remind fans of our first Hero ISL season.

Jeje, the second-highest Indian goal scorer (23) in the history of Hero ISL, remembered the pain of watching Marina Machans play in the final of last season as Chennaiyin FC ultimately lost to ATK FC. "Watching your friends playing in bed isn't the nicest feeling," the striker said With the television I had to turn it off a few times.

Jeje turned to Dr. Silio Musa for his rehabilitation in Italy, after sustaining a ligament injury early in his career and aggravating it further by playing outside the pain barrier. "Techniques differed slightly from the usual physiotherapy," said Jeje, who was doing part of his rehabilitation at the Chennai Sports Science Centre.

However, his entire journey to recovery was far from easy and Jeje had to experience several painful moments on his way back to fitness. You don't want to do rehab on the worst days. The routine is the same. But that's where your attitude comes in: you've got to think about your leg, you've got to think about not losing it not after everything you've already provided," he shared."

It did nothing, however, to dampen Jeje's determination, considering the setbacks. In reality, after his long spell on the sidelines, the striker feels that he's become a stronger person. Now seen in the dressing room as a senior and experienced member, the 29-year-old is happy to give advice to the rising Indian football stars.

I advise the boys to go to a doctor for the smallest problem and talk about it. Young people want to beat the pain barrier, particularly if the coach plays you, and keep going. But that can result in damage in the long term. And later, when the team is together when you are in a large building doing your workouts, You must always be optimistic and try not to let your mind go to the dark side," he said.

Jeje revealed that he no longer takes anything for granted and does not take training sessions lightly, glad to be back and interested in the beautiful game once again. It's just incredible, the feeling of touching the grass, touching a ball. In terms, I can't quite describe it. But often you moan when you are made to run in preparation. I'm not doing that now. And you appreciate how lucky you are to only run when you come back from a major injury. I practice now as if every session were my last one,' he said.

On November 27, when SC East Bengal takes on ATK Mohun Bagan FC at the Tilak Maidan Stadium, Jeje will have the opportunity to mark his return to the Hero ISL.
